Katherine Heigl Talks Season 2 Of Firefly Lane

Katherine Heigl visited New York last week for a press tour to promote the return of Firefly Lane, her hit Netflix friendship drama. The first stop on her travels was NBC Studios, for a live appearance on the Monday, November 28, edition of morning show Today.

During the interview, Katherine teased that audiences would soon discover what happened to cause a rift between her character Tully and lifelong best friend Kate, played by Sarah Chalke, which left fans of the show guessing when the first season ended on a cliffhanger.

The friendship between Tully and Kate is central to the emotional story, which spans more than three decades of the protagonists lives. Heigl explained that her real life friendship with co-star Chalke made playing her role much easier. The duo were introduced by mutual friend Dulé Hill, when Katherine was trying to find out more about Vancouver where the show was being filmed. Sarah is a Vancouver resident.

Katherine also spoke about the important role her mother and business partner, Nancy, played during the formative years of her career. “She has protected me my whole career, and many, many young women in Hollywood did not have what I had. And I was really, really fortunate because we were chatting about it, and I said, ‘Mom, I think if you hadn’t been there, it would not have gone so well for me.’ I think I would’ve very easily been talked into things that I would not — that I would regret.”

She continued, “It’s a difficult industry. There’s a lot of money at stake, and there’s a lot of agendas. And so having somebody whose only agenda was me, protecting me, it is special. And she’s very smart, she’s very business savvy. That’s not really my thing,” adding jokingly, “I’m an artist, I don’t really get all of it.”

Season 2 Part 1 of Firefly Lane is now available to watch on Netflix, with the final 7 episodes of the show, forming Part 2, set to drop on the streaming platform June 8, 2023.
